4th Annual "Celebration of Memories" Christmas Program, December 13, 2007, at 7:00 p.m.

Most of us are caught up in the merriment of the fast-approaching holiday season. But with the holidays looming, many families are facing some difficult moments because of the death of a loved one this year.
To help, each year, Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home sponsors a special program of hope and remembrance. A “Celebration of Memories” is a candlelight service that touches on the understanding of feelings of grief during the holiday season, while celebrating the life of a beloved family member or friend who has died this past year. A holiday keepsake is be prepared for each family. This glass ornament is personalized, and is displayed on the Christmas tree in the funeral home and is available to each family at the conclusion of the service.
We present this program to express our care and support of the families in our community. Please call us at 603-237-4311 for more information.

Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home Introduces Its Children’s Activity Room

Because the funeral is an important family event, Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home invites children to be involved.

An upstairs children's room provides private space with books, games and toys for various ages. Play tables, stuffed animals and a television and DVD player, with a collection of appropriate children’s videos, are also available. The room is located above the visitation area, offering a quiet and comfortable environment for children and families to gather when calling hours or a funeral are being held.

The children’s room also provides materials to help children cope with loss and death as well as the events that follow. Local professionals, Dr. Virginia Rockhill, a licensed psychologist, and The Rev. Dr. Alta Chase, a licensed pastoral psychotherapist, are readily available to assist families with the loss of a loved one. “We thank Dr. Rockhill and The Rev. Dr. Chase for their willingness to provide our community with this invaluable service,” said Jeff Jacoby. “Death for a young child can be very frightening. It is important that children learn to express their grief and to let them see a family member do the same. It is our hope that this new activity room can provide some comfort and support to children and families alike.”
