Albini J. Fortier

STRATFORD HOLLOW, NH—Albini “Al” J. Fortier, 68, of Stratford Hollow, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lincoln, Me., on June 5, 1946, son of the late Charles J. and Mary Ann (Deschane) Fortier. He was raised and attended school in Maine. For all his adult life, Al was a professional truck driver who excelled at his job. He worked both for himself and for other companies. After officially retiring, he returned to work in the last few years to work for Central Paving in Jefferson, and there he enjoyed his time with a group of people who greatly cared for and respected him as much as he did them. Al was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed many camp gatherings with his family and friends. He was a man full of love and had an amazing ability to connect with others and he always welcomed friends and family with open arms. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Geidel) Fortier of Stratford Hollow; his children, Timothy Fortier and wife Tammy of Fairfield, Me., Melissa Williams and husband Bruce of Fairfield, Jonathan Fortier and wife Lisa of Oakland, Me., Edward Fortier and wife Tammy of Fairfield, Gregory Libby and wife Lisa of Bingham, Me., and Mark Libby of Skowhegan, Me.; a sister, Joanne Pinkham of Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Robert Fortier of Florida; fifteen grandchildren, Christan, David, Robert, Tiffany, Nick, Cody, Matthew, Kirsten, Broc, Jordan, Silas, Travis, Samantha (“Goobies”), Chad, and Erica; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; as well as his constant canine companion, Buffy. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth (Reynolds) Fortier in 2001; a son, Robert in 1974; and a sister, Gloria Edmonds. There are no public calling hours. A celebration of Al’s life will be held at the family “camp” at 411 Percy Road in Stratford Hollow on Saturday, June 21, from noon to 8 p.m., and all friends and family are welcome. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 22, at 11 a.m. in the Colebrook Village Cemetery.
