Amy J. Riley

Mrs. Amy J. (Sweatt) Riley, 80, of Stewartstown, New Hampshire, passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2006, at the Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, New Hampshire. Mrs. Riley was born September 1, 1925, in Columbia, New Hampshire, daughter of the late Hollis and Nettie (Amy) Sweatt. Mrs. Riley married her late husband, Thomas Riley, on December 20, 1941. From 1946-1960, she and her husband worked on the family farm on Route 145 in Colebrook, NH. She loved to cook, making delicious breads, rolls and donuts, and she also enjoyed tending to her flower garden. From 1975 until her retirement in 1991, she worked for Tillotson Rubber Company. Her love for her family and her commitment to her children and grandchildren consumed most of her time after retirement. She will be remembered as someone who had a passion for people, always having the time to listen to the concerns of others and was known by many as “Mom”. Mrs. Riley is survived by ten children, Judy Govoni of Fremont, NH, Carol Crossett and husband, Bill, of Lancaster, NH, Dale Riley and wife, Kristen, of North Haverhill, NH, David Riley and wife, Nineeta, of Ontario, Canada, Danny Riley and wife, Janis, of Columbia, NH, Karen Couture and husband, Richard, of Hooksett, NH, Dwaine Riley of Stewartstown, NH, Randy Riley of Colebrook, NH, Pamela Villeneuve and husband, Don, of Milan, NH, and Vicky Riley of Lemington, VT; two brothers, Stewart Sweatt of Columbia, NH, and Forest Sweatt of West Stewartstown, NH; twenty-eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Riley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Riley on April 8, 1985; a daughter, Nancy Towry; four brothers, Jack Sweatt, Kedrick Sweatt, George Sweatt and Milton Sweatt; and two sisters, Catherine Placey and Elizabeth Hamel. Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 3, 2006, from 4-7 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook with The Reverend Randall Scheri officiating. An interment service will be held on Monday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Colebrook Village Cemetery.
