Andre D. Dostie

COLEBROOK – Andre D. Dostie, 19, of Colebrook, died tragically on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Rt. 102 in Lemington, Vt. He was born on June 26, 2002, in Littleton, NH, a son to Donald A. Dostie and Cara Lariviere. Andre was well known throughout the area for his always-present smile and his good-natured disposition. He loved to be with friends, whether working or snowmobiling (on his custom, somewhat-altered sled named “Tiffany”), or four-wheeling, snowboarding, riding his motorcycle or driving a truck. He was adventurous and not afraid of, or to try, anything; and it can be said that he lived life a little bit on the wild side, but always with that familiar smirk. He had a strong work ethic and a very entrepreneurial side to his nature. Over the years, Andre had worked for VR Concrete, Robert Morgan Steeplejacks, Belknap Electric, Rig-N-Sons Construction, as well as for his father; while also operating his own automotive refurbishment business, “Dostie’s Detailing.” He also enjoyed politics and spent time during the last election cycle working for the Trump campaign operation in the state. The last two years had been a very hard time for Andre, dealing with the grief over the untimely passing of his cousin, Adrien Dostie, who he considered as close as a brother. He never was quite the same, and his family may always feel that Andre may also have died with a broken heart. Grief is the price for love, as some have said, and it was true in Andre’s case. Also true is that those who knew and loved him will grieve much for a life too short, and he will never be forgotten by so many people. Andre leaves behind his parents, Donald A. Dostie of Colebrook and Cara Lariviere and her partner Tod Lemieux of Wentworth Location; his siblings, Austin Sanschagrin of Errol, Keith DeCosta of Berlin, Sawyer Sanschagrin of Berlin, and Aspen Langlois of Berlin; both grandfathers, Bertrand Lariviere of Errol and Andy Dostie of Littleton; his uncle and aunt, Denis and Chantal Dostie of Stewartstown and his cousin, Natalie Dostie; his uncle Tony Lariviere of Errol; and an aunt, Lisa Belanger of Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his cousin, Adrien Dostie, in 2019. Memorial calling hours will be on Friday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A celebration of Andre’s life will be held the next day, Sat., Sept. 25, at the American Legion hall in Canaan, beginning at Noon. Interment will be private in the St. Brendan’s Cemetery where Andre will be laid to rest next to his cousin, Adrien.
