Annette A. Masson

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, NH-- Mrs. Annette A. Masson, 95, of West Stewartstown passed away at the Coos County Nursing Hospital in West Stewartstown on Tuesday evening, August 28, 2012, after a long period of failing health. She was born in Coaticook, Que., on May 13, 1917, a daughter to the late Zephir and Virginia (Menard) Bergeron. Annette attended school in East Hereford and in Beecher Falls. Following her education, she went to work for a few years as a housekeeper at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She later married Aime Masson in 1941, and they began to raise their family in and around the Northeast Kingdom, becoming permanent U.S. residents in 1946. Annette spent her time as a homemaker and helping on the family farm, and she also worked for a time as a waitress as well as at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen. She later became a licensed nurse’s assistant and truly enjoyed her work at the Coos County Nursing Hospital. Annette was a communicant of the former Assumption Church in Canaan. She enjoyed tending to her garden and reading. Mrs. Masson is survived by four sons, Jean-Louis Masson and wife Helene of Canaan, George Masson and wife Sally of Canaan, Roger Masson and wife Karen of Lake Lure, NC, and Guy Masson and wife Jeanne of Stuart, Fl.; a daughter, Nicole Noel and husband Francis of Glover, Vt.; two sisters, Florence Bergeron of Gardiner, Mass., and Lucille Favreau of Bedford, NH; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Aime Masson in 1984; two brothers, Leo and Edgar Bergeron; and two sisters, Yvonne Carbonneau and Pauline Holbrook. Calling hours will be on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in West Stewartstown on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m., with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Interment will immediately follow at the Alice Hunt Cemetery in Canaan. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Annette’s memory to the CCNH, for the purpose of establishing an hospice room, P.O.
