Carol A. Bunnell

LEMINGTON, VT – Mrs. Carol A. Bunnell, 67, passed away late Saturday afternoon, March 27, 2010, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH, with her loving family at her side. Carol was born in West Stewartstown, NH, on October 12, 1942, a daughter of Frank Uran, Sr. and Zelma (Foster) Uran. She was a graduate of Pittsburg High School in 1960, and later went to the Albany Medical Center in New York to attain her nursing degree. Carol was one of the area’s best known registered nurses and treasured caregivers. She was always helping someone in need. She worked for the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital since it opened its doors in the early 1970s. She was instrumental in helping Dr. William Gifford in establishing the UCVH in Colebrook, and getting it operational. She was also a dedicated EMT and EMT instructor for many years, and was very involved with all the local ambulance corps. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Albert Bunnell of Lemington, Vt.; two sisters, Brenda Lanctot of Colebrook, and Gloria Sweatt of Pittsburg; two brothers, Frank Uran, Jr. and John Uran of Stewartstown, NH; a stepson, Steven Bunnell of Bloomfield, Vt.; a stepdaughter, Susan Bunnell, of NH; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Paul Uran, Steve Uran, Roger Uran, Sylvia Bedard and Rose Bernard. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook. The Rev. Rick Boyden will officiate. An interment service will be in the spring at the Lemington Cemetery.
