Carroll B. Phillips

Mr. Carroll B. Phillips, 81, of Corliss Lane, Colebrook, New Hampshire, passed away Friday morning, February 16, 2007, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Phillips was born October 10, 1925, in Willimantic, CT, son of the late Carroll and Irene (Fogg) Phillips. At a very young age, Mr. Phillips was brought to Colebrook by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Phillips, where he was raised and attended school. As a young man, he enjoyed skiing, scouting and numerous outdoor activities, including spending time with his many friends from Colebrook. On April 1, 1944, he married Birdena Hibbard and they raised their family in Colebrook. He worked for J.R. Jackson for a number of years hauling potatoes and pulp and later worked for the plywood plant in North Stratford. His final place of employment was with Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen, working in the salvage department and retiring in 1988. He enjoyed a long retirement, traveling with his wife to Nova Scotia, Europe and throughout the United States. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful family man, having a great love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and never missing a birthday, sporting event or special occasion. Mr. Phillips is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Birdena Phillips of Colebrook, NH; five children, Maurice Phillips and wife, Pamela, of Crestview, FL, Eileen Fogg and husband, Ralph, of Colebrook, NH, Leta Brown and husband, Wayne, of Colebrook, NH, Gary Phillips and wife, Sherry, of Canaan, VT, and Jane Cross and husband, Carey, of Canaan, VT; a brother, Tom of New York and two sisters, Florence and Doris of Connecticut; nine grandchildren, Karen, Darren, Michael, Kimberley, Russell, Brian, Steven, Holly and Shelley; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, February 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook with The Reverend Randall Scheri and The Reverend Krisann Byrne-Scheri co-officiating. An interment service will be held at the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Friday, May 25, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Randall Scheri officiating.
