Claudette A. Marquis

PITTSBURG – Claudette A. Marquis, 81, of Pittsburg, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024. She was born on February 4, 1943, in St. Malo, Québec, a daughter to the late Bernard and Bernadette (Houle) Drouin. She attended school in Canada and graduated from the Institute familialle de Plessisville. Claudette’s life was dedicated to her husband and family, and she cherished time spent with them all. She also loved country western music, especially Shania Twain, and she loved to dance. She will be remembered by all for being a wonderful cook, known for her holiday tourtieres, chop suey, homemade bread and doughnuts. Her faith was a very important part of her life, and she was an active communicant at St. Albert’s Catholic Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Claudette leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years, Gilles P. Marquis of Pittsburg; her children, Linda (Tim) Harris of Canaan, Nancy (Donnie) Owen of Loudon, Julie K. (Billy) Bolton of W. Stewartstown, and Daniel (Selena) Marquis, Sr., of W. Stewartstown; a brother, Rejean Drouin (Marie-Andrée) of Québec City; ten grandchildren, Danielle (Luke) Merrill, Victoria (Whitney) Covill, Olivia Harris (Ryan), Chad Owen (Brooke), Cameron (Kaylin) Barrett, Jocelyne Barrett (Oscar), Stephanie (Jason) Farnsworth, Rebecca (Kevin) Danis, Laura Marquis (James), and Daniel Marquis, Jr. (Ruth); and six great-grandchildren, Emilia, Rhys, Hayley, Cayden, Oscar, and Boden. Calling hours will be on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be the next morning, Tuesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in W. Stewartstown. Interment will immediately follow in St. Albert’s Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Marquis may be made to the North American Martyrs’ Parish, for the benefit of St. Albert’s Church, P.O. Box 102, Colebrook, NH 03576.
