Diane B. Merrill

PITTSBURG – Diane B. Merrill, 59, of Pittsburg, NH, passed away peacefully very early on Saturday morning, Feb. 27, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Belmont, NH, surrounded by her loving family and her least favorite cat, Bacon. Diane was born in West Stewartstown on Sept. 26, 1956, a daughter to the late Darwin and Agnes (Benoit) Brooks. She was a 1974 graduate of Colebrook Academy. For many years, Diane worked in the furniture repair shop at Ethan Allen. When not working, she enjoyed crafting, quilting, taking care of others, including being a designated driver, playing Bingo, taking trips to Foxwoods & Las Vegas, being a scorekeeper at softball games, especially at the annual tournament in Canaan, and time spent with family and friends. She also loved going out to eat, playing Facebook games, reading, going to the movies, shopping for her grandchildren, attending plays at the Weathervane Playhouse, comedian shows, giving advice, and playing scratch tickets. Her happiest times were the days she spent with her grandchildren. Diane’s last request was for a family trip to Foxwoods. Scott, Peter, Jenn, Evelyn, Brad, Aimee, Jeff, Madelyn, her brother, Stephen and Justin accompanied her on this adventure. Her last spin on one of her favorite slots resulted in hitting the jackpot! She went out on top! She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Scott Merrill of Pittsburg; her three children, Peter Merrill (Jenn) of Fremont, NH, Brad Merrill of Pittsburg, and Aimee-Lynn (Jeff) Sheltry of Belmont, NH; five grandchildren, Madleyn Sheltry, Evelyn Merrill, Logan Elliot, Dana Wright, and Brynn Hartlen. At Diane's specific request, there will be no public funeral services. On Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 1-3 p.m., there will be a “Celebration of Life” at the Outback Pub in West Stewartstown, because it was her wish that her life be celebrated and not mourned.
