Edward "Ted" G. Owen

PITTSBURG, NH -- Mr. Edward “Ted” G. Owen, 73, of Pittsburg, NH, passed away on Sunday morning, February 20, 2011, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH, with his family by his side. He was born in West Stewartstown, NH, on October 11, 1937, a son to the late Munn J. and Gladys (Bolton) Owen. Edward worked in customer service at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen for 43 years before his retirement. He was a lover of nature and the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his greatest joys was deer hunting on Anticosti Island in Canada with family and friends. He helped to run Camp #5 for many years where games of pitch, cribbage and many other memories were made. Ted and his wife, Elsie, had many great trips with their friends, Gerry & Camilla Hann. He will be greatly missed by his whole family and his many friends. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Elsie (Hodge) Owen of Pittsburg; seven sons, Jimmy Owen, Johnny Owen and wife Mary, Toby Owen, and Ronnie Owen and wife Kim, all of Pittsburg, Donnie Owen and wife Nancy of Loudon, NH, Scottie Owen and wife Deana of Pittsburg, and Timmy Owen of Clarksville; four step-children, Janet Jorgenson and husband Michael of Manchester, NH, Keith Smith and wife Peggy of Colebrook, Barbara Smith of Clarksville, and Rodney Smith and wife Amy of West Stewartstown; his twin sister, Evelyn Owen of Salem, NH; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Elmer “Sam” Owen, Waldo Owen, Percy Owen, Dean Owen and Lila Howe; two infants, Connie and Edward; and his best friend and life-long neighbor, Brendon McKeage. At Edward’s request, there are no calling hours. A committal service and interment will be at the Pittsburg Hollow Cemetery in the spring.
