Eugene J. Beloin

COLEBROOK, NH -- Mr. Eugene J. Beloin, 91, of Colebrook, NH, passed away at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook on Thursday evening, June 17, 2010, after a long period of declining health and with his family at his side. Mr. Beloin was born December 27, 1918, in East Hereford, Québec, son of the late Emmaneul Beloin and Rosa (Adam) Beloin. Eugene was a life-long woodsman and farmer. He grew up on a family farm in Hereford, and then had his own farm on Stevens Hill in Colebrook for thirty-four years. Logging and raising Christmas trees were his passion. He loved to be outdoors and was renowned for his hard work on the land. Eugene loved his family deeply, and he was especially fond of children. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a communicant at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marie (Marquis) Beloin of Colebrook; thirteen children: Ginette Dowse of Clarksville, NH; Donald Beloin of Colebrook, Ronald Beloin and wife Linda of Columbia, NH, André Beloin of Colebrook, Denis Beloin and wife Peggy, of Underhill, Vt., Marielle Ross of Canaan, Vt., Florence Duplessie and husband Michael of Canaan, Denise Chase and husband Jim of St. Albans, Vt., Fernand Beloin of Colebrook, Gerard Beloin and wife Linda of New Boston, NH, Daniel Beloin and wife Chandra of Colebrook, Emilie Langford and husband Rick of Lancaster, NH, and Rosalie LeClaire and husband Richard of Merrimack, NH; four brothers: Gerard Beloin and wife Diana of Coaticook, Que., Roger Beloin and wife Jeannine of Coaticook, Ernest Beloin of East Hereford, Que., and George Beloin and wife Paulette of Coaticook; two sisters: Leonie Riendeau of Colebrook, and Sr. Yvette Beloin of Littleton, NH; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews. Eugene is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook with The Reverend Craig Cheney as celebrant. Cremation will follow and a committal service will take place at a later date at St. Brendan’s Catholic Cemetery.
