Germaine Y. Guay

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, NH—Mrs. Germaine Y. Guay, 94, of West Stewartstown, NH, and formerly of Colebrook, passed away at the Coös County Nursing Hospital on Sunday morning, Nov. 11, 2012, after a long period of failing health. She was born on Sept. 13, 1918, in St. Thomas Montmagny, Québec, to the late Odilas and Albertine (Messervier) Lacombe. Germaine was married to Victor Thibodeau who passed away in 1953; and she later married Alex Guay, and they raised ten children together. She loved to sew and knit, especially baby sets for all the local newborns, and she loved to read. She will be long remembered by her friends and family as a wonderful cook who made the most wonderful bread. She was a determined woman of strong faith and was a long-time communicant of St. Albert’s Catholic Church in West Stewartstown. Her greatest joys were to have large dinner parties for her family, and she loved to be among them. She loved to play little pranks and she had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Germaine is survived by her children, Arnaud Thibodeau and wife Ruth of Greenville, NH, Renald Guay of East Hereford, Qué., Francine Champagne and husband André of West Stewartstown, Joanne Gilbert and husband Jimmy of West Stewartstown, Daniel Guay and wife Mary Sue of Huntsville, Ala.; step-sons William Guay of Colebrook, Claude Gray of West Stewartstown, and Theodore Guay of Manchester, NH; a step-daughter, Dolores Jackson of South Grafton, Mass.; her daughter-in-law, Therese Thibodeau of West Stewartstown; two sisters, Madeleine Lacombe of St. Fabian Montmagny, Qué., and Denise Lacombe of Montmagny, Qué.; two brothers, Joseph Lacombe of Montmagny and Roger Lacombe of Que.; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her first husband Victor Thibodeau; her second husband, Alex Guay in 2004; a son, Rejean Thibodeau in 2012; and nine siblings, Georges-Henri, Rolland, Gertrude, Eddy, Armand, Cécile, Colette, Gilberte, and Arthuré. Calling hours will be on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, from 2-4 & 6 – 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Albert’s Church in West Stewartstown with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Burial will immediately follow at St. Albert’s Cemetery.
