Iola D. Boire

W. STEWARTSTOWN – Iola D. Boire, 73, died peacefully at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, early on Friday morning, Aug. 14, 2020, from complications of recent surgery and her most recent illness. She was born in West Stewartstown on Oct. 23, 1946, the youngest daughter of the late Wesley and Ella (McPheters) Ladd. She was a 1964 graduate of Canaan Memorial High School. Known to her family and friends as “Minnie,” she lived for a brief period of time with her sister and her husband after the death of her parents. She worked as a clerk for St. Regis for a time and later in the kitchen at the Coos County Nursing Hospital. In 1969, she was married to Josh Boire and she became a life-long domestic engineer for her family and a bookkeeper for Josh Boire Logging Co. In the late 70s, Minnie also began her own ceramics business out of her home, which she enjoyed with her friends for more than 15 years. She also provided child care in her home for many children over the years, many of them were not in her own family. Together with her husband and family, Minnie enjoyed camping, especially at Roger’s Campground in Lancaster for many seasons, and going motorcycling. In later years, she especially enjoyed 4-wheeling and expanding her collection of butterflies. Minnie will be forever remembered for her tough outer shell protecting a heart of gold, and she will be missed dearly by her entire family and countless friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Josh Boire of W. Stewartstown; her two sons, Nelson Boire (Lisa) and Ryan Boire (Jamie) of W. Stewartstown; a brother, Gerald “Moody” Ladd (Jean) of Canaan, and a sister, Jessica “Debbie” Brooks of Colebrook; two grandchildren, Vaughn Shaw-Boire and Raygen Boire; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Minnie is predeceased by a sister, Grathia Bryant, and five brothers, Earle, Elwin, Abner, Sanford and Gilman Ladd, Sr. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, with COVID-19 small group and social distancing guidelines being observed. A public graveside committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, in St. Brendan’s Catholic Cemetery.
