Katherine E. Pearson

COLUMBIA — Katherine E. Pearson, 90, of Columbia, passed away at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital on Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 2019, after a long period of failing health. She was born on March 4, 1929, in Columbia, a daughter to the late Elwin and Florence (Woodard) Pinckney. She attended schools in Colebrook. Katherine’s early years were spent as a homemaker, raising her four children. She later went to work for many years at the Tillotson Rubber Co., in Dixville. Katherine loved to garden, both flowers and vegetables, and she loved to go to auctions to satisfy her love of antiques. She was an avid dancer and loved country music. Holidays spent with family were especially important to her, when her family was all around, and she loved to be with her grandchildren. She will be remembered by all as an excellent mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Carlton Pearson of Columbia; her three children, Landon Placey and wife Lisette of Stewartstown, Linda Frizzell and husband Tim of Lemington, and Hilda Weiner and husband Peter of Colebrook; two brothers, Harold Pinckney of Lisbon, NH, and Richard Pinckney of Colebrook; five sisters, Margaret Crawford of Colebrook, Nancy Gadbois of Ormond Beach, Fla., Elaine Whitcomb of Melrose, Mass., Ann Ramsey of Menifee, Calif., and Eileen Reinhard of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by a son, Waldo Placey; the step-mother who raised her, Bernice Pinckney; and a brother, Stanley Pinckney. Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A graveside interment service will be held at a later date in the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery, of which notice will be given.
