Kathryn M. Cyr

COLUMBIA – Kathryn (Kim) M. Cyr, 55, of Columbia died on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer and with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born in Ipswich, Mass., on Jan. 11, 1969, a daughter to Robert A. Marshall, Jr., and Norma (McLeod) Pelletier. Kathryn was also known as Kim, Kimmy, Kimmer, Mariam, Mom, and just recently as Memere. No matter how you knew her, she was nothing short of amazing. Kim was a very loving mother as well as a very wise business owner. She had many skills, and was not afraid to learn new ones, and she was always willing to get the job done. Kim graduated from Amesbury High School, Class of 1987, where she first met her life-long love, Jon. She went on to work for the town of Amesbury, which she loved and was heartbroken to leave. She left with much excitement to be able to stay home and raise her two children. She was a stay-at-home mom by day, and a business owner by night. She ran a very successful construction and trucking business alongside Jon. They were known to be on the job together, working out figures, or laying out a new patio. Kim was never afraid to say “give me the shovel I will do it.” Everyone knew she was stubborn, so you didn’t argue. Kim was a wonderful mother to her two children, but she especially instilled in her daughter that there was nothing she couldn’t do, and if a man said she couldn’t, she would do it better. Kim enjoyed being on the job or on the trails in her side-by-side or on her snowmobile. Everyone knew not to ask her to race, because they would lose. Kim was a kind-hearted, free-spirited, happy person. Even after finding out that she was sick, she tried to continue to love life. She was determined to keep life as normal and as fun as possible. Although her time was cut short, she still remained happy even in the end. She enjoyed all of her time with Jon and the kids, along with her in-laws and close friends. Kim and Jon continued to stay close to a small group of friends from high school, and traveled with them. Kim took pride in spending time with her dad, Robert, before his passing, and even built her home in Columbia with Jon and Robert. They set all of the beams, with the help of their son, and his service truck. Kim and Jon completed their dream home where they loved to sit outside at the fire and just enjoy their time together. Kim adopted a new dog Pete, named after Peterbilt, which were her favorite trucks. Jon was able to buy a truck for the trucking business, as long as it said Peterbilt on the side. Kim was over the moon to help her daughter and her son-in-law plan their wedding. She planned with them day and night to make the day everything they wanted it to be. She smiled the entire day watching her daughter marry her best friend. Kim was very excited to meet her first grandchild Madelyn Kathryn, and was overjoyed to find out that she was given her name. She enjoyed playing with her and knitting or sewing blankets for her and her siblings, Keagan and Mackenzie. She also made baby quilts for her future grandchildren. She loved her two “granddogs,” Coal and Stella, who were always welcome at her home. Kim was happiest when everyone was all together at her home for holidays or the weekend. “Don’t worry,” she would say “We have plenty of air mattresses.” The living room, kitchen and loft would be filled with her loved ones, tucked into bed after a long evening of talking and laughing together. She lived a much too short life, but she enjoyed every minute of it. Kim will be greatly missed, but she will be celebrated as well, because that is what she wanted. Kim always worried about everyone else before herself. Even at the end of her life she was asking her husband and her children not to be sad, but to be happy for her, and to enjoy life for her. Kathryn is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jon Cyr of Columbia; a son, Hayden Cyr and his fiancé Shannon of Ossipee, N.H.; her daughter, Shelby Farinella and her husband David of Freedom, N.H.; her mother, Norma Pelletier (Jerry) of The Villages, Fla.; a brother, Daniel Marshall of Salisbury, Mass.; her mother-in-law, Sandra T. Cyr of Winter Haven, Fla.; her aunt & uncle, Kay and Stuart Dalzell of Rowley, Mass.; a granddaughter, Madelyn Kathryn Cyr; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is predeceased by her father, Robert A. Marshall, Jr. and her father-in-law Roger J Cyr, and brother-in-law Geoffrey R Cyr. Memorial calling hours will be at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, N.H., on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, from 3 to 5 p.m. No other public services are scheduled at this time.
