Margaret E. Schlicht

PUNTA GORDA, FL— Mrs. Margaret “Marge” E. Schlicht, 79, of Punta Gorda, Fl. and Pittsburg, passed away on Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at the Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fl. She was born March 13, 1934, in Englewood, NJ to Henry and Gertrude (Martens) Gebhardt. Marge enjoyed a career as a Home Economics teacher for junior and senior high school students in New Jersey for 32 years and retired in 1987. She and her husband began wintering in Florida in 1994. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Punta Gorda and enjoyed singing in the choir. Marge shared her singing talent, as well, with the Spirit of the Gulf Chorus of Sweet Adeline’s, Inc. and enjoyed her membership and traveling all over the country competing with the group for the last ten years. Marge and her husband were also members of the Civic Association of PGI, the Cruising Club, and the Mariners of PGI. In the north country, Marge was also a member of the Farnham Memorial United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and refinishing furniture. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Walter Schlicht of Punta Gorda and Pittsburg; and her sister, Lois Gebhardt of Charlottesville, Va. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., Monday. April 1, 2013. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 4005 Palm Drive, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A funeral service will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. at the church with The Rev. Dana Narring officiating. Calling hours in the north country will be at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Thursday, April 4, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at the Farnham Memorial United Methodist Church in Pittsburg with The Rev. Paula Fletcher officiating. Burial will take place later in the spring at the Pittsburg Hollow Cemetery.
