Marion "Matchie" D. Brooks

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, NH -- Mrs. Marion “Matchie” D. Brooks, 59, of West Stewartstown, died Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 2010, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in West Stewartstown, NH, on November 10, 1950, a daughter to Roscoe and Geraldine (Carey) Cross. She was educated locally and graduated from Canaan High School in 1969. Marion was a well-known local merchant, owning and operating Brooks Agway with her husband, Douglas, for many years in Colebrook. She was a very giving person, and was very generous to her friends and family. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren, and all time spent with family, especially her Monday visits. Marion also loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and she was very proud of her car, often washing it daily. She leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Douglas Brooks of Colebrook; two sons, Jeffrey Brooks and wife Laurie of Colebrook, and Jim Brooks and partner Kristina Amey of Dover, NH; a daugther, Corina Brooks of Ashland, NH; her mother, Geraldine Cross of Canaan, Vt.; two brothers, Randall Cross and wife Gloria of Colebrook, and Carey Cross and wife Jane of Canaan; three sisters, Vivian Towle and companion Roland “Monty” Montplaisir of Averill, Vt., Sheila Fissette and husband, Frank, of Canaan, and Rebecca Masters and husband Dana of West Stewartstown; a brother-in-law, Paul Fournier of Colebrook; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie Welch, Jordan Brooks and Caleb Brooks; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Marion is preceded in death by her father, and a sister, Sharon Fournier. Calling hours will be on Thursday, September 30, 2010, from 6-9 p.m. at Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook at 10 a.m. with Pastor Janet Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Perry Cemetery in Clarksville, NH .
