Owen F. Pollard

EPSOM – Owen “Owie” F. Pollard, 23, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Epsom, N.H. Born on May 5, 2003, he brought much joy to his parents, the late Irving Frederick Pollard, Jr., and Heather Placey. Tragedy struck his young life when his dad, age 37, was killed tragically in a woods accident on January 27, 2006. This would set the stage for his life. Owen grew up on Hardscrabble in Stewartstown and was blessed to have his step-dad, Lucas “Lukie” Leighton, and JP “Uncle J” Berry as his mentors. At an early age he learned how to hunt, and hunting deer, partridge, and turkeys became his passion. Youth weekends are some of our fondest memories. Every fall he would fill his mom’s freezer, something she looked forward to. Fishing was also a favorite pasttime, and he spent many an hour casting a line at his family camp, “KampTuKumTu,”on Diamond Pond, as well as many brooks and dams. He attended Country Day School, Stewartstown Community School, Canaan School, and graduated from North Country Charter School in 2020. At the age of 6 he won the Northern NH EMS Council Youth award in 2009 for his heroic efforts when he was involved in an ATV accident with his Gram. During his short life, he worked for Sweet Tree, Dennis Boudle Construction, and then became a lineman. His career as a lineman with Grover Construction took him from New Hampshire to Washington State, Idaho, and Oregon where he lived and worked for four years. He made many friends while there and was looking forward to returning. He traveled back and forth across the country hauling his 38’ Reflection camper which he called home while out west. After returning home in August of 2025, he was employed by Twin State Communications in Epsom. He was not only their employee, but the Keeler family took him in like family, and for that we will always be grateful. Owen will be remembered as being very independent, adventurous, stubborn, angry, reckless and extremely opinionated. You never had to guess what he was thinking. On the flip side he was funny, “the life of the part,” and he had the biggest heart, was forgiving, helpful, and gave the best hugs. He was a friend to many and was loved fiercely by those who had the privilege of meeting him during his short life. He is survived by his mom who is his biggest fan and #1 supporter, his step-dad, his faithful canine companion STEEL, his sister Cate (Drew) Fortin of Hill, his sister Molly and brother Mason of Canaan Vt., his grandparents Lynne Placey and Beaver and Ruth Leighton of Stewartstown, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Calling hours will be held at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 12 to 2 p.m., immediately followed by a graveside service in the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery.
