Pauline "Polly" M. Laramee

COLEBROOK, NH – Mrs. Pauline M. “Polly” Laramee, 79, of Colebrook, NH, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 18, 2010, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Errol, NH, on June 30, 1930 a daughter of Philip and Minnie (Stewart) Hamlin. Polly’s vocation was as a caregiver in the healthcare setting. She began her training as a nurse in Berlin, became an LPN during a shortage of nurses, and then began to work at the hospital in West Stewartstown. It was there that she met her future husband, Wilfred Laramee. She also cared for both her grandmothers when they were ill. While raising their family in the Colebrook, Polly also worked at Howard’s Restaurant, and then she went to work for UCVH when it was constructed. She worked there in the emergency room and the maternity ward, and she was involved with training other nurses. Polly was also an EMT for many years, and she also worked at Lambert’s grocery store. She worked as an LPN at the Coos County Nursing Hospital for 12 years, as well as, running a cosmetic store named “Beauty By Choice” from her home. She also served as the assistant manager of the Mohawk Road Group Home for a period of time prior to her retirement, she was a 4-H instructor, and she managed the Methodist Church’s thrift shop for 4 years. Polly was renowned for her cooking, her empathy and compassion for people, and her dedication to her family. She was very dedicated to the Trinity United Methodist Church. Polly is survived by her five children; Rebecca Borry and husband Arthur of Bristol, NH, Bill Laramee of Colebrook, John Laramee and wife, Tina, of Weare, NH, James Laramee and wife, Debby, of Gulfport, Fl., and Martha Laramee and husband, Jerry Crete, of Hudson, NH; a brother, William Hamlin of Milan, NH; two sisters, Mary Lou Johnson and husband Howard of Riverview, Fl., and Celia Kirkpatrick of Saybrook, Ill.; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Norman, MaryAnne, Patrick, and Megan. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wilfred, in 2004. Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 20, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook, with The Rev. Rick Boyden officiating.
