Richard "Dickie" L. Holden, Sr.

COLEBROOK, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Mr. Richard “Dickie” L. Holden, Sr., 73, of Colebrook, New Hampshire, passed away early Friday morning, March 9, 2007, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital with his family by his side. Mr. Holden was born September 19, 1933, in Colebrook, NH, son of the late Leo Holden and Mary Ann (Dube) Holden. Mr. Holden attended schools locally, and then began to work for many years at several jobs in the area. He worked successively for the Lewis & Woodard Service Station, for the Washburn Lumber Company in North Stratford, and later for Lambert’s, Prescott Farms and Clarkies’ grocery stores on Main Street in Colebrook. He was a member of the Colebrook Fire Department for more than 20 years. Dickie, as he was known to his many friends and family, loved to hunt and fish, and he loved watching wildlife. He was fond of taking long drives on the backroads of Bungy where he spent his early years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he loved his whole family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Holden leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Mrs. Marie (Baillargeon) Holden of Colebrook, NH; four daughters, Leis Dobson and husband Robert, of Bennett, Colo., Linda Reynolds and Sharon Dobson, both of Colebrook, and Ann Kelly of Charleston, SC; five sisters, Mary Lou “Chickie” Lynch of Orange, Mass., Betty Stanton of North Stratford, NH, “Jigger” Marsh of Ervin, Mass., Jackie Meattey of Ervin, Mass., and Nancy Woodbury of Clinton, Ill.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Holden is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard L. Holden, Jr.; and a brother, Freeman Holden. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the family lot in the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Randall Scheri officiating.
