Robert "Red" Fissette

COLEBROOK, NH—Mr. Robert “Red” A. Fissette, 73, of Colebrook, passed away at his home early on Wednesday morning, June 19, 2013, with his loving wife by his side and after a lengthy illness. He was born in West Stewartstown, NH, on December 8, 1939, a son to the late Denzil and Junie (Haynes) Fissette. He attended the local schools in Colebrook and was an outstanding athlete. After school, he moved south for a period of time and worked for Jordan Marsh in the Boston area. Upon returning to the north country, Red worked for Ethan Allen for a short time while working as a flooring contractor on the side. For 45 years, Red owned and operated his own well-known flooring business in the local area. His hobbies and interests included being an outdoorsman who enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially bowling, playing cribbage and bridge, but his true passion was golf. Robert leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Shirlee (Biron) Fissette of Colebrook; four sons, Eric Fissette and fiancée, Mary, of Stewartstown; Kevin Fissette of Florida; Gregory Fissette of Wisconsin; and Jason Fissette of Tennessee; a daughter, Michelle Dumars and husband Randy of Florida; three step-children, Debbie King and husband Fred of Loudon, NH, Randy Sambito and wife Lisa of Tennessee, and Sheryl (Gidget) Manchester of Spokane, Wash.; a brother, Frederick Fissette and wife Judy of Melrose, Mass.; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colebrook with Pastor Cindy Grassi officiating. Following cremation, a graveside committal service will be held at the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Fissette may be made to the Two Rivers Ride for Cancer, c/o Rosemary Mulliken at the 1st Colebrook Bank, 132 Main St., Colebrook, NH 03576.
