Suzelle Simone Charland

CANAAN, VT – Mrs. Suzelle Simone Charland, 76, of Canaan, Vt., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday afternoon, June 13, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 1, 1934, in La Patrie, Québec, a daughter to the late Emile and Albia (Paquette) Audet. She was educated in Canada. Suzelle moved to the United States with her family in 1969, and had resided in Canaan since that time. She loved tending to her gardens and flowers, and she was well known for her cooking. She was passionate about her family, and especially loved time with her grandchildren. Suzelle loved to be of help to anyone who needed it. She was a communicant at St. Albert’s Catholic Church, and always helped the ladies of the church with meals at the parish hall. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ghislain Charland of Canaan, Vt.; her children, Ghislaine Harvey of Beecher Falls, Vt., and her partner, Eddie, of Mass., and Dominique Charland and his wife Dorice of Chartierville, Que.; two brothers, Renald Audet and wife Irma of La Patrie, Que., and Roland Audet and wife Monique of La Patrie; three sisters, Pierrette Prévost of Sherbrooke, Que., Noëliane Tremblay of Chicopee, Mass., and Lorainne Boucher and husband Roland of St-Hubert, Que.; four grandchildren, Tanika Ackerman and her fiance, Frank, of NH, Nicholas, Jessica and Michael Charland all of Sherbrooke, Que.; a great-grandchild, Alexis; two brothers-in-law, Yvan Charland and wife Bernadette, and Gilles Charland and wife Claudette all of Sherbrooke; two sisters-in-law, Jeannine Vallierre of Contrecouer, Que., and Solange Duquette and husband Claude of Sherbrooke; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Alphé and Laureat Audet; a sister, Jean-Line Vezina; four brothers-in-law, Yvon Vezina, Blaise Prévost, Gilles Vallierre, and Gerard Tremblay; and two sisters-in-law, Annette Audet and Germaine Audet. Memorial calling hours will be Thursday, June 23, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Albert’s Church in West Stewartstown with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. A private committal service will take place at a later date at St. Albert’s Cemetery.
