Yvon D. Dagesse

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, NH—Mr. Yvon D. Dagesse, of West Stewartstown, passed away peacefully at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt., early Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2012. He was born on Feb. 28, 1936, in Courcelles, Québec, son of the late Levis and Eva (Lessard) Dagesse. Yvon worked for the Brown Company from 1952-55 as an assistant cook. After that, he worked as a woodsman in Ontario for a time before returning to the U.S. in 1958. He then began a long career at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen for the next 41 years. Yvon enjoyed working outside on his lawn and landscaping his home, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was also a great card player, and had a sharp, sarcastic sense of humor. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years Monique (Robinson) Dagesse of West Stewartstown; his five children, Sylvie Mathieu and husband Danny of West Stewartstown, Lynn Mathieu and husband Renald of West Stewartstown, Denis Dagesse, Sr., of Clarksville, Nancy Chase and husband Troy of Lyndonville, Vt., and Cindy Bernier of St. Albans, Vt.; four brothers, Roland Dagesse of Nashua, NH, Clement Dagesse of Derby Line, Vt., Richard Dagesse of Colebrook, and Reginald Dagesse of Hudson, NH; two sisters, Lorraine Brousseau of Canada and Claudette Pouliot of Barre, Vt.; ten grandchildren, Melanie Mathieu and fiancé Brian Fogg, Stephanie Mathieu and partner Toby Owen, Bruno Mathieu and wife Tammy, Nicholas Mathieu and wife Jennifer, Crystal Knapp and husband James; Denis Dagesse, Jr., and his wife Heather, Mitchell and Samuel Chase, and David and Julia Bernier; four great-grandchildren, Jasper and Iliayana Knapp, Bryson Fogg, and Alexandria Dagesse; two step-great-grandchildren, Juliana Turner and Brianna Fogg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Yvon is preceded in death by five brothers, Fernand, Gerard, Florent, Raymond and Jean-Marie; and a sister, Marie Gosselin. Calling hours will be on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Albert’s Church in West Stewartstown, with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Albert’s Cemetery in West Stewartstown.
