Albert R. Maurais Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

WEST STEWARTSTOWN – Albert R. Maurais, 86, of West Stewartstown, passed away at the Coos County Nursing Hospital on Wednesday evening, Aug. 26, 2020, after a long period of failing health. He was born in East Hereford, Que., on Oct. 31, 1933, a son to the late Adrien and Marie Anna (Paquette) Maurais. He was raised in East Hereford until he was 10 when his family emigrated to Canaan. He attended St. Albert School in West Stewartstown. Albert was a truck driver for his whole working life, for just about all the local jobbers in the area, but mostly for Laval Rancourt and for Gaston Laflamme. He was known to take meticulous care of his trucks all the time. He loved to tinker and putter in his garage, re-purposing different things, and he was passionate about taking care of his home and large lawn. Albert loved to collect calendars, and he truly enjoyed time spent with his family, both in the U.S. and Canada. He was a faithful communicant in the North American Martyrs’ parish. Albert is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Rolande (Pomerleau) Maurais of West Stewartstown; two children, Carolyn (Mike) Phillips of Canterbury, NH, and Patrick Maurais (Bonnie West) of Allenstown, NH; two grandchildren, Catherine Phillips and Jonathan Phillips; a sister, Annette Boynton of Canaan, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Aleda Maurais of Canaan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by three brothers, Victor, Raymond, and Rudolph Maurais, and three sisters, Rita Ladd, Yvette Beloin, and Edith Marquis. Calling hours will be on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, with COVID-19 small group and social distancing guidelines being observed. A memorial Mass will be held the next morning, Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook (masks or face coverings are required in the church). Interment will be at a later date in St. Albert’s Cemetery in West Stewartstown. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Maurais may be made to one’s choice of the CCNH Residents’ Activity Fund, c/o P.O. Box 10, W. Stewartstown, NH 03597; or to the North American Martyrs’ Parish, for the benefit of St. Albert’s Church, 55 Pleasant St., Colebrook, NH 03576.
