Dennis G. Hyde Sr.

August 30, 1953 - January 24, 2022

COLEBROOK - Dennis Gordon Hyde, Sr., 68, succumbed to injuries received in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday, January 24, 2022, in Columbia N.H., along with his canine companion, Brie. Dennis was born in West Stewartstown on August 30, 1953, to parents June (Gould) Hyde Fleury and Raymond Hyde. He attended Colebrook Elementary School and graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1972. Dennis worked as a truck driver and equipment operator for several local contractors and at The Balsams for ten years serving as lift supervisor for the Wilderness Ski Area. He was a true North Country jack-of-all-trades and was well known locally for his welding skills. Dennis loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Over the years he belonged to the Jaycees, the Colebrook Ski Bees, and he was a 50-year member of Mohawk Grange #217. He loved his land and the pond he built where many local children learned to swim, dive, and fish. He loved to grow and share his bountiful harvest of vegetables. He loved people and made friends with anyone within a 25-mile radius of him, befriending and helping the many camp owners in his East Colebrook neighbor-hood. He was always willing to lend a hand and to pull a vehicle from a snowy ditch. He hosted the Hydesville Pig Roast with the help of family and friends for 48 consecutive years. This family and friends, and friends of friends, event is what he lived and worked for throughout the year, and people from across the street and across the country found their way to Hydesville the Sunday before Labor Day. He especially loved being Grandpa. Dennis is survived by his wife Michelle (Raymond) Hyde; a daughter, April Busfield and husband Jason Busfield of Pittsburg; a son, Dennis Hyde, Jr., and wife Ashlee (Bliss) Hyde of Watertown, N.Y.; three grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Myah Busfield, Daylynn Hyde, and Ryden Hyde; and a brother, Gary Hyde of Stratford. He is predeceased by his father Raymond, his mother June, and a sister, Linda Hyde. Calling hours will be held on Saturday evening, Feb. 5, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hyde home on Sunday, September 4, 2022. In remembrance of Brie, and Dennis’ love for his canine companions, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Coös Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 345, Colebrook, NH 03576. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home.
