Geneva M. Porter

COLEBROOK – Geneva M. Porter, 92, of Colebrook, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a recent and brief illness. She was born in Whitefield on Nov. 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Herbert and Effie (Whitcomb) Hanks. She attended schools in both Whitefield and in Manchester, NH. At the age of 15 she went to work and held many different jobs until moving to West Stewartstown in 1948. She then worked at the Coos County Hospital until 1953 when she moved south to Southington, Conn. She lived there until 1977 until relocating back to the north country, and she made her home in Bloomfield until moving to Monadnock Village in Colebrook in 1999. She worked as a seamstress for Manchester Manufacturing in Colebrook for several years. Geneva leaves behind her step-daughter, Sheila Beauchemin and her husband Keith of Colebrook; three grandchildren, Penny Potz and husband David of Bristol, Conn., Katie Collins and husband Jon of Stewartstown and Arthur Beauchemin and wife Tanika of Colebrook; and four great-grandchildren, Melissa Hussey Brewer, Sarah Collins, Alice and Jesse Beauchemin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton “Red” M. Porter, Sr., in 1991, and all of her siblings. There are no public calling hours.
