Gladys V. Greenlaw

September 15, 1923 - June 9, 2017

NASHUA— Gladys V. Brooks Ricker Greenlaw, 93, of Nashua, and formerly of Clarksville and Pittsburg, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, June 9, 2017. She was born in Pittsburg on Sept. 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Francis and Lena (Potter) Brooks. She attended the one-room Indian Stream Schoolhouse and later Pittsburg High School. In 1942, Gladys married Raymond Ricker of Clarksville and together they operated a farm on Clarksville Pond Road until Raymond’s death in 1976. Gladys carried on running the farm until 1979 when she sold the livestock and machinery. She sold the farm itself in 1987. Gladys was a member of the Aurora Grange in Pittsburg for more than 60 years. She served on the Clarksville School Board for several terms. While living in southern NH, Gladys married L. Parker in 1981 and resided in Milford until his death in 1996. Gladys then lived with her daughter in Nashua for a time, and she later married Arthur L. Greenlaw who died in 2007. Gladys leaves behind two daughters, Leona Douglas and husband Richard, and Barbara Uran and her partner Dan Thibodeau, all of Nashua, NH; a sister, Nora Thompson of Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by a brother, Clinton Brooks, and sister, Reva Ricker. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook on Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, and then a graveside interment service will be held at the Indian Stream Cemetery in Pittsburg. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Greenlaw may be made to the Merrimack Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054; or online at www.hhhc.org.
