Kevin Lee Griffin

May 25, 1966 - July 4, 2019

CANAAN – Kevin Lee Griffin, 53, of Canaan, and formerly of Dalton, NH, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, July 4, 2019, after a long period of struggling with ill health. He was born on May 25, 1966, in Tupper Lake, NY, a son to Richard “Skip” and Rita (Provoncha) Griffin. He attended schools in New York and graduated from White Mountain Regional High School in 1984. Kevin was a wonderful gentleman and an extremely hard worker. For 12 years, he worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106, out of Albany, NY. His passion was hopping in a skidder or crane to get a job done. He loved being in the woods or building a bridge. There wasn’t a piece of machinery that he couldn’t run. For most of his life, he started work at 3 am and would work until 7-8 pm. Kevin loved his jobs, but found his life’s true passion when he became a father. His 3 children and 2 grandchildren were his absolute world, and he worked harder than ever to give them anything and everything he could. Kevin had a heart as big as the world and his smile could light up the room within seconds. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone walking down the street if they needed it. Even when his health wasn’t the best, he would still help wherever it was needed. Kevin is survived by his wife, Michelle Griffin; his three children, Kristie, Peter, and Rachel Griffin; his two grandchildren, Elijah and Zoey Begin; his step-parents, Evelyn Griffin and John Palmer; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Kevin Whittum; his brother, Dave Palmer; his step-sister Shirley and Nick Hamm; his step-brother and sister-in-law, Rusty and Darlene Palmer; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Kevin is predeceased by both of his parents, Richard Griffin and Rita Palmer, as well as two brothers, Keith and Robert Griffin. A private interment for Kevin will be held in Newcombe, NY, where he will be buried next to his brothers and mother. A Celebration of Life for Kevin will be held at a later date of which notice will be given. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook.
