Paul Corriveau

November 20, 1929 - March 24, 2015

COLEBROOK – Mr. Jean-Paul Corriveau, 85, of Colebrook, passed away at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook late Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015, after struggling with increasingly poor health. He was born on Nov. 20, 1929, in Bury, Québec, a son to the late Aime and Aurore (Roi) Corriveau. He was raised in Québec, and at the age of 12 began a life-long career working in the woods. In his early years coming to the U.S., Paul also worked in construction building roads and did some Christmas tree farming for others. In 1963, he and his family emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Colebrook, where Paul began to work with his brother, Laval. He later took a position with the Brown Co., and later James River Corp. His passion was working as a lumberjack, even well into retirement. Paul just loved to be in the woods. He also was a clever machinist, welder and mechanic, always fixing his own equipment and tinkering at his garage on Colby St. When not working, his greatest joy was to relax at his home with his family. Paul was a communicant at St. Brendan’s Church, and at one time had belonged to the Independent Order of Oddfellows in Colebrook. Paul is survived by his two daughters, Linda Corriveau of Colebrook, and Josée Corriveau of North Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Marguerite Corriveau, Jeanne Corriveau and Claudette Corriveau and husband Gregoire Biron, all of Quebec City; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Simone J. (Rousseau) Corriveau in 2009; his son John in 2007; five brothers, Vincent, Laval, Arthur, Gaetan and Gregoire; and a sister, Clemence Lambert. The Corriveau family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. A graveside committal will immediately follow at St. Brendan’s Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Corriveau may be made to Alzheimer’s Healthcare Services, 610 Sullivan St., Berlin, NH 03570. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com. Funeral arrangements in NH are under the direction of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook.
