Raymond Pierre Fauteux

March 1, 1949 - October 17, 2019

ST. JOHNSBURY – Raymond Pierre Fauteux, 70, of St. Johnsbury, and formerly of Gorham, NH, and West Stewartstown passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the Northeastern Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vt. He was born in West Stewartstown on March 1, 1949, the fifth child to the late Armand and Carmelle (Favreau) Fauteux. Ray attended St. Albert School and Canaan Memorial High School. He later moved to Connecticut and worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He joined the Navy and was assigned to the USS Bolster where his tour of duty took him to Asia during the Vietnam era. After his military service, he returned to New Hampshire, making Gorham, NH, his home, where he worked in the auto body-painting industry. Later, he volunteered to drive veterans to appointments in White River Junction, Vt. Family was very important to Raymond. He was proud of being a Vietnam veteran. He was a very generous man, always giving his best. He was also a dog lover to the end. Ray will be remembered for his many pranks and the laughter he brought to everyone around him. He leaves behind three sisters, Sally Biron of W. Stewartstown, NH, Jeanne Daley of Lemington, Vt., and Pauline Gould (William) of Madison, Conn.; and three brothers, Norman Fauteux (Lisette) of Epsom, NH, Daniel Fauteux (Colette) of St. Apollinaire, Que., and Roger Fauteux of Milan, NH. In addition, he leaves many nephews and nieces, and his former wife and long-time friend Patricia Fauteux of Gorham, NH. Sincerest thanks to Linda Lamont, who, with her sunny and up-building personality was a big help to him in his final years at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehabilitation. The family also wishes to thank all the nurses, LNAs, and aides who took good care of him. Calling hours will be on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Albert’s Church in West Stewartstown, and interment with military honors will follow at St. Albert’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Conway Area Humane Society, 223 East Main St., Conway, NH 03818; or to the Vietnam Veterans of America, PO Box 549, Bethlehem, NH 03574.
