March 21, 1947 - August 4, 2020
COLUMBIA – Renaud “Reno” L. Grandmaison, age 73, of Columbia, died peacefully at his home with his wife by his side on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Reno was born on March 21, 1947, in West Stewartstown, and was the son of the late Louis and Berthe (Lemieux) Grandmaison of Colebrook. Although he had a limited formal education, Reno often said that he graduated from HKU (Hard Knocks University). He was a self-made man who had a lifelong drive for his work in the logging industry. Reno logged with his father from an early age, later joining in partnership with his brother Mike. During the late 80s, Reno built a successful log-buying business --Columbia Log Yard – with holding yards in Columbia and Landaff, NH. Reno later returned to the woods during his retirement years to manage his own land, often doing the work of several men. His work ethic, generosity, and strength are how he made his mark on this earth, and how he touched so many. Reno loved his extended family and trusted daily in the Almighty to guide his steps. He was a provider and a supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lyse H. (Roy) Grandmaison; daughters Natalie L. Lindley and her husband Benjamin of Cassville, MO, and Bridget C.G. Freudenberger and her husband Philip of Colebrook, NH; grandchildren Tristan, Eowyn, Elise, and Jackson Lindley; his siblings Ginette Pariseau, Diane (Peter) Fournier, Michael Grandmaison, and Nicole Brockney; and numerous nieces and nephews. In honor of Reno’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. A private graveside family gathering will be held at St. Brendan’s Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home, Colebrook, NH.
