Richard J. Newcombe

COLEBROOK – Richard John Newcombe, 56, of Colebrook, died on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., with his daughter at his side. Richard was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y. on January 1, 1966, a son to the late Floyd and Edna (Race) Newcombe. He graduated from Canton Central School in 1984 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in 1994. Richard was a firefighter and a member of the Colebrook Fire Dept. for many years. He was a selfless individual who would give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was kind and caring. He loved hunting and fishing and taking walks in the woods. His most cherished time, however, was spent with his grandson, Louis, and being the most incredible Pop Pop to his best buddy. Richard is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jayne (Johnston) Newcombe of Colebrook; his daughter Sara, and his grandson, Louis; his siblings, Roger (Johanna) Newcombe and Susan (Charles) Gushea, all of Rensselaer Falls, N.Y. In addition to his parents, Floyd and Edna, Richard is predeceased by his sister, Vicky Putnam. A future celebration of Richard’s life will be planned and announced at a later date.
