'Tank' Lionel R. Sylvestre Jr

COLEBROOK – ‘Tank’ Lionel R. Sylvestre, Jr., 75, of Colebrook, passed away at his home with his wife by his side after a period of declining health on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022. He was born in Littleton, N.H., on Feb. 2, 1947, a son to the late Lionel R. and Maebelle (Olney) Sylvestre, Sr. Tank grew up in the Littleton and was a 1965 graduate of Littleton High School. For his entire working life, Tank was an auto and truck mechanic and truck driver. Also a ‘Jack-of-all-trades,’ he worked for the Town of Littleton Highway Dept. for 21 years. After his retirement from there, he also worked part-time as a truck driver for R. Brooks Trucking in Stewartstown. Tank was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved to ride his Harley-Davidson. In his early years, he also enjoyed windsailing on Lake Champlain in Vermont and off the coast of Cape Hatteras in North Carolina. He taught Hunter Safety Education courses for a period of time in Littleton prior to his move to the north country. A true people-person, he had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends with whoever he talked to. Tank was loved by many and will be missed by them all. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra (Pihl) Sylvestre of Colebrook. Memorial calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook.
