COLEBROOK – Thomas H. Homer, 70, of Colebrook, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at his home. Tom was born in Glen Cove, NY, on June 17, 1950, a son to the late Bernard and Jean A. (Englander) Homer. A lover of horses, Tom had an Appaloosa horse as youth that he cared for on the family homestead. He and his brothers enjoyed sailing in Long Island Sound as youngsters, and Tom was an accomplished long-distance runner and swimmer. He also enjoyed baseball and football. In between sailing trips, Tom would travel by bus and train with his brother to Shea Stadium in New York City to enjoy watching the Mets play. He worked as a handyman/carpenter for awhile, but spent much of his life working at different places as he traveled around the country hopping trains. He enjoyed time spent at the family camp in Clarksville and even swam across Lake Francis once. In his later years, Tom enjoyed watching television and listening to his music. He is survived by two brothers, Jason Homer and wife Jacky and their son, Ian, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Jonathan Homer and fiancée Betty Perrault of Berlin, NH, and Jon’s daughter Jennifer Haynes, her husband Allen and their twins Jack & Fiona; and a sister, Merlin Summerhayes of Toronto, Ont. There are no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Community Baptist Church on Bridge St. in Colebrook.
