William E. Adair

February 7, 1935 - April 17, 2022

COLUMBIA – William E. Adair, 87, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 17, 2022, at his home. He was born in Columbia on Feb. 7, 1935, a son to the late Elery and Juanita (Corliss) Adair. Bill attended the local schools and was a 1953 graduate of Colebrook Academy. Bill worked at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen for 43 years. He also served with honor for six years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was quiet, humble man who preferred to be at home. He loved to snowmobile in his younger years and more recently enjoyed being out 4-wheeling. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Edwina (Parker) Adair; his son, Wallace Adair and his wife Faith of Columbia; two daughters, Nancy Daniels and husband Wayne of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Diana Lynn Clement of Irvington, Ala.; a brother, Kenneth Adair of Groveton, and a sister, Myra McCormick of Stratford Hollow; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. There are no calling hours scheduled at this time. A graveside interment service with military honors will be held at a later date of which notice will be given. A gathering of friends and family to honor and celebrate Bill’s life will be held at the American Legion hall in Canaan, Vt., on Friday, April 22, beginning at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Adair may be made to the North Country ATV Club, P.O. Box 161, North Stratford, NH 03590. Condolences may be offered to the family online by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com.
