Albert 'Josey' Bedard Jr.

NORTH STRATFORD — Albert ‘Josey’ Joseph Bedard, Jr., 75, of North Stratford passed from this world unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook. Josey was born in North Stratford on May 4, 1942, a son to the late Albert ‘Joe’ and Marjorie (Scott) Bedard. He loved the small town he grew up in, and remained there for his whole life. Josey was a hard worker and a good provider. He was at one time employed by the Stratford Plywood Mill, then Washburn Lumber and WeLog. Before retiring, he went to work for Conn Brothers Construction in Lincoln, NH, and it was by far his favorite job—driving his dump truck for a company who appreciated and respected his work ethic, and the feeling was mutual. He worked hard and he played hard. He was a loving and generous man, enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his wife Deb, whether they were watching NASCAR, the Red Sox, or his beloved Patriots, or just going for a ride on the back roads. As long as they were together, he was happy. His giggle was a treasure to behold. He enjoyed fishing, having beers with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He always looked forward to his weekly visits with his good buddy, Bones, especially if there was a ride involved. Josey is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debra (Kennett) Bedard of North Stratford; his children, Keith (Tami) Bedard of Spokane, Wash., Kelly (Charles) Fanaras of NH, Ricky (Brenda) Bedard of Lunenburg, Vt., Craig Bedard of Colebrook, Dawn (Derek) Moore of Derby, Vt., Michelle Kennett of Valatie, NY, Angel Kennett of Columbia, and Adam (Nikki) Bedard of Bloomfield, Vt.; two sisters who he loved so very much, Joanne ‘Corky’ Bedard of Pennsylvania, and Jeannie (Henry) Champagne of Laconia, NH; 18 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Betty Stanton of North Stratford; his “Ma #2”, Myra Sweatt of Columbia, his dear friend Esther Scott of Bloomfield; and his constant canine companion, Thunda; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He is preceded in death by a precious infant granddaughter, Jessica, and four of his very best friends in life, Paul Sargent, Gerald Blondeau, Peter Dowse, and Rainey Allen. At his specific request, there will be no public calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
