Annette M. Benoit

WEST STEWARTSTOWN, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Mrs. Annette M. Benoit, 76, of West Stewartstown, New Hampshire, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2009, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Benoit was born in Berlin, NH, on October 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Frank Cote and Mary Jane (Poirier) Cote. Mrs. Benoit grew up in Berlin and Groveton and attended Groveton schools. She was married to Leon Benoit in 1952. She worked at many different places in her life, including at the Coos County Farm and Hospital, at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen, and at Tillotson Rubber Company in Dixville. Known to many local children and her family as “Memere,” Annette was a very family-oriented person who absolutely loved children, and took care of many of them in her home through the years. She also loved to go on picnics and listen to country-western music, play cards, and go on any family outing. Time with her family was precious to her, and those times will be missed by all. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and she loved to be with them. Annette leaves behind her three sons, Leo Benoit, and wife, Denise, of Concord, NH, Donald Benoit and wife, Linda Kapoor, of Peoria, Az., and Arnold Benoit and wife, Cheryl, of Center Barnstead, NH; two daughters, Joanne Gilbert, and husband Ed, and Judy Leigh and husband, Dan, all of West Stewartstown, NH; two brothers, Andrew Cote of Groveton, NH, and Bobby Cote, of Berlin, NH; two sisters, Theresa Brooks, of Clarksville, NH, and Yvette Beauchemin of Columbia, NH; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Benoit is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Benoit, in 1984; two brothers, Lawrence and Hector Cote; and two sisters, Cecile Fagnand and Loretta Parker. At Mrs. Benoit’s specific request, there will be no calling hours or public services. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Benoit’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast Affiliate, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home, Colebrook, NH.
