Archille G. Riendeau

SOUTH CANAAN, VERMONT -- Mr. Archille G. Riendeau, 91, of South Canaan, Vermont, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday morning, September 13, 2007. Mr. Riendeau was born February 9, 1916, in East Hereford, P.Q., Canada, son of the late Moise and Rosa (Duranleau) Riendeau. Mr. Riendeau moved to the United States in 1943 and later moved to South Canaan in 1947 where he has resided for the past 60 years. From 1947-1959, he farmed while also working for Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen from 1959 to 1979, retiring as a furniture repairman. His many hobbies included four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and wood working. He was a true “jack of all trades” with the ability to repair almost everything. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and an honorary member of the Border Riders Snowmobile Club of Canaan. Mr. Riendeau is survived by his three sons, Patrick Riendeau and wife, Bonnie, of South Canaan, Gerard Riendeau and wife, Rosemary, of Canaan, and Roger Riendeau and wife, Marie, of Canaan; five daughters, Suzelle Noyes and husband, Walter, of Beecher Falls, Jocelyne Gervais and husband, Jean Pierre, of Island Pond, Jacinthe Marchesseault and husband, Luc, of South Canaan, Doris Bouthillier and husband, Claude, of Canaan, and Louise Lambert and husband, Luc, of South Canaan; five step-children, Norman Charest and wife, Nicole, of Coaticook, P.Q., Canada, Robert Charest and Suzanne Charest, both of Ontario, Canada, Colette Charest of Montreal, P.Q., Canada, and Sylvie Biondi and husband, Anthony, of Rockton, IL; three sisters, Gabrielle Mongeau of Magog, P.Q., Canada, Ida Spaulding of Clearwater, FL, and Zelire Beloin of Coaticook, P.Q., Canada; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Riendeau is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marie Laure (Marquis) Riendeau in 1970; his second wife, Therese (Gauthier) Riendeau in 2005; a son, Michel Riendeau in 1975; five brothers; and four sisters. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2007, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church with The Reverend Craig Cheney as celebrant. An interment service will immediately follow at St. Brendan’s Cemetery.
