Aurore Rouleau

DANSVILLE, NEW YORK -- Aurore Rouleau passed away peacefully at the Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, NY, on Saturday, January 10, 2009, in her 87th year. Born in Robinsonville, Québec, on April 26, 1921, to the late Archille Bisson and Anna (Cyr) Bisson, Aurore was one of 18 children. She was educated in Canada, and married Wilfred Rouleau on May 11, 1944, in St. Isadore, Québec. The Rouleaus moved to the U.S. in 1952. The Rouleaus lived in Tupper Lake, NY, for 40 years, and they were the owners and managers of the H-Way Motel for ten years there. Aurore spent 25 winters in Florida which she enjoyed very much, and she made many lasting friends from all over the U.S. and Canada. Mrs. Rouleau was an avid card player, she loved to sew and make quilts, and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed participating in senior groups wherever she was. She was a quiet, loving soul, but her presence was always known. Aurore was well like by all who knew her. Even though she spent a short time in the hospital, she was very well loved by all the nurses and attendants. Aurore leaves behind a son, Guy (Alicia) Rouleau of Broadalbin, NY; a daughter, Lise(Guy) VanDeGenachte of Cohocton, NY; five grandchildren, Angie (Rob) Boenau, of Avon Ohio, Jimmy (Wendy) Rouleau of Broadalbin, Eric VanDeGenachte of Atlanta, Ga., Scott (Sharyn) VanDeGenachte of Buffalo, NY, and Shawn VanDeGenachte of Warsaw, NY; five great-grandchildren, Christian Rouleau, Kyle VanDeGenacht, Hunter& Nicholas Boenau and Nouvelle VanDeGenachte; her siblings, Laurent (Annette) Bisson, of Sherbrooke, Que., Denise (Laurent) Bessette of Sherbrooke, Wilfred (Ryjean) Paradis of Ste. Catherine, Ont., Andre (Bertha) of Thorold, Ont., Raymond (Amanda) Paradis and Phillippe (Lorraine) Paradis of Enosburg Falls, Vt.,; four sisters-in-law, Rita Paradis, Marie-Paul Bisson, Jeannine Boire, and Emma Rose Rouleau; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; six sisters, Rose, Melanie, Lucienne, Marguerite, Colette and Claire; four brothers, Henri-Paul, George-Emile, Gerald and an infant. At Mrs. Rouleau’s request, there will be no calling hours. Memorial calling hours will be held at Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH, on Saturday, May 23, 2009, from 10-Noon, followed by a Memorial Mass at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Colebrook at Noon. A graveside committal service at the Notre Dame du Rosaire Cemetery in Sawyerville, Québec, will be held the following day at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line by going to www.jenkinsnewman.com.
