LANCASTER — Evelyn Grace Owen,76, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Lancaster, NH, with her loving family and friends by her side. Evelyn was born in West Stewartstown, NH, on Oct. 11, 1937, to the late Munn and Gladys (Bolton) Owen. Evelyn resided most of her life in Salem, NH, where she made her home. She had made many friends there who she also considered family. Evelyn was very proud when she obtained her GED, and always encouraged her grandchildren to focus on their education. She was a dedicated NASCAR fan (most importantly a follower of Jeff Gordon), and even recently attended some races. She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. Her favorite activities included baking, hiking, shopping, photography, Red Hatters, phone calls, celebrating birthdays, picnics, and most importantly spending time with family and grandchildren. She was proud of her shot glass collection from all over the world that her friends and family helped her obtain. Evelyn held a variety of employment over the years, but her pride and joy that she always raved about was her job at Ray’s Big Boy Bagels. Most recently she worked cooking in local school cafeterias and loved hearing children's stories. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Joan Laquerre and husband Bob of Loudon, NH; a son, Alan Dorman and wife Cindy of Pittsburg, and step-daughter Merle Weber; her nine grandchildren, Andy Rancloes and wife Beth, Aaron Rancloes and wife Tiffany, Alex Rancloes and fiancée Michelle, Asa Rancloes and girlfriend Katie, Melissa and husband Rob Wallingford, April and husband Jim Burghdurf, Erica and husband Ralph Newland, Adam and wife Kate Clark, Rob Clark and girlfriend Krystal Boynton; as well as her 12 great-grandchildren, Emma and Sam Rancloes, Alanna and Aubri Rancloes, Jayda and Jordyn Burghdurf, Hope and Robbie Wallingford, Aryonna Day and Joshua Rawding, Jaxen Clark, and Kellan Clark. Evelyn is predeceased by her infant daughter Joanie Evelyn Dorman; and being the last of her generation, by her twin brother Edward (Ted) Owen of Pittsburg, brothers Sam Owen of East Hereford, Quebec, Percy Owen of Ontario, Dean Owen of Ontario, Waldo Owen of East Hereford, and sister Lila Howe of Ontario. Calling hours will be on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, from 9-11 a.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook, NH. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook. The Reverend Rebecca Larson will officiate, accompanied by The Reverend Rose Howe. Burial will immediately follow at the Alice Hunt cemetery in Canaan, Vt. A reception for family and friends will then take place back at the Congregational Church.
