Florence "Flossie" Holden

GOFFSTOWN, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Florence “Flossie” Holden, 78, of Goffstown, New Hampshire, formerly of Colebrook, New Hampshire, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. Flossie was born on August 3, 1930, in Groveton, NH, a daughter of Luger and Mildred (Bowen) Morin. Flossie was raised in Colebrook and for a period of time lived at the Munn Farm in Colebrook. She often spoke of her difficult childhood, but the way in which she lived her life and her commitment to family served as a testament to her ability to overcome adversity. She worked at a young age, cleaning homes and cabins in Colebrook and Pittsburg. She also worked at Tillotson Rubber Company for a number of years. When living in Colebrook, she loved spending time with her friends and enjoyed “partying” at the Wilderness Restaurant. After moving to Milford, NH, she enjoyed living at The Mill apartment building where she made many wonderful friends. Her many interests included cooking, crocheting, and caring for animals. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who adored her family. Flossie is survived by her son, Edwin “Butch” Purrington and wife, Diana, of Colebrook, NH; four daughters, Judith Brooks and Herbert of Sanbornville, NH, Jean Rouillard and husband, Richard, of Auburn, ME, Marie J. Roby and husband, Earl, of Manchester, NH, and Lana Brooks and husband, Earl, of Canterbury, NH; a sister, Emma Ainsworth of Concord, NH; eight grandchildren, Paula Roby Palmer, Tiffany Derosier, Christopher Sweatt, Gabrielle Roby Swanick, Jacob Sweatt, Jerome Roby, Matthew Rainville and Kelsey Harriman; fourteen great-grandchildren, Konner, Peyton, Keeley, Raenor, Levi, Austin, Shelby, Taylor, Cody, Bella, Lydia, Victoria, Philip and Beau; one great-great grandson, Lennox; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Flossie is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. At Flossie’s request there will be no calling hours or services.
