Harry E. Biron Sr.

WEST STEWARTSTOWN – Harry E. Biron, Sr., 78, of West Stewartstown, passed away suddenly on Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2019, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after being stricken at his home. He was born in West Stewartstown on March 5, 1940, a son to the late Albert G. and Marie-Rose (Therrien) Biron. Harry attended school in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1958. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring from the reserve force in 1982 at the rank of staff sergeant. For many years, Harry was a manager and superintendent at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen. He also worked with other family members for a period of time in the lumber industry. He was very active in his community, serving for a long time as selectman in Stewartstown. His family was most important to him, and Harry could always be seen at a local sporting events cheering on his family members. He enjoyed following all the New England professional sports teams, as well. Harry loved to travel, too, and Aruba was a favorite destination each year for him. He also enjoyed older cars and he loved to be out snowmobiling in the winter. Harry leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Sally (Fauteux) Biron of West Stewartstown; four children, John Biron and partner Durand of San Francisco, Calif., Brian Biron and wife Maryse of Georgia, Vt., Elaine Biron and husband Scooter of Kittery, Me., and Harry Biron Jr., and fiancée Carla Chapasko of South Yarmouth, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Sally Belknap-Biron of Colebrook; two brothers, Donald Biron and wife Simone of Clarksville, and Albert Biron, Jr. of Connecticut; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Phelps, Alexandra O’Brien, Emily Biron, Olivia Biron, Harry Biron III, Michaella Biron and Chandler Biron; one great-grandson, Yuri O’Brien; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Bruce A. Biron in 2017, and six siblings, Raymond, Bernard, Philip and Roland Biron, Pauline Carroll, and Lucille Biron. Calling hours were on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial was held the next morning, Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Albert’s Catholic Church with The Rev. Craig Cheney as celebrant. Interment with military honors will occur in the spring in St. Albert Cemetery, of which notice will be given.
