Jeanne E. Harvey

CANAAN – On Saturday, May 20, 2023, Jeanne E. Harvey, age 86, transitioned peacefully to join her Lord after struggling with health issues and with her family at her side. Jeanne was born on June 7, 1936, in Lemington, Vt., the daughter of the late Hector de La Bruere and Florence de La Bruere (Lestage) of Canada. Jeanne married the love of her life Paul Emile Harvey on June 27, 1955 in Coaticook, Canada, at the St. Jean L’Evangeliste Church. In 1956, they started their family, and in 1959 they purchased their first dairy farm in Canaan, where they raised their six children. In 1969, they purchased their second farm, also in Canaan. In 1979 they built a new home where Jeanne spent the remainder of her life. Jeanne worked at the Coös County Nursing Home, first in the housekeeping department and later as a dietary aide until her retirement. With her happy spirit and big heart, it was no wonder why everyone loved her joy of life, her sense of humor, contagious laugh, and playful nature. She found joy in making people smile and saw beauty in everyone. Jeanne’s love was unconditional for her children and grandchildren. She loved her family, music, dancing, playing cards, and she was the best cook ever. Jeanne loved learning new things. When she got a portal tablet at age 82, allowing her to instantly communicate with family and friends, she became fascinated with modern technology. When introduced to “YouTube,” it became her best friend. Her strong faith resonated throughout her life and permitted her to live life serving others, as she never doubted God would take care of her, no matter what. She is survived by one son and four daughters: Guy (Susan) Harvey of Otisfield, Me., Carole Marquis of Laconia, Michelle (Clermont) Roy of Concord, N.H., Francine (Dan) Leclerc of Amherst, N.H., and Danielle (Danny) Laflamme of West Stewartstown; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Routhier and Louise de la Bruere, and a brother John De La Bruere. Jeanne is predeceased by her husband, Paul Emile Harvey in 2006, and a son, John Harvey in 2004. Calling hours will be on Wednesday morning, May 31, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. Interment will be the next morning, Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m. in St. Edmond’s Cemetery in Coaticook, Quebec.
