Leona M. Scott

W. STEWARTSTOWN – Leona M. Scott, 87, of W. Stewartstown, died early on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Coös County Nursing Hospital after a long period of declining health. She was born in W. Stewartstown on July 28, 1938, a daughter to the late Raymond and Iva Rose (Bunnell) Clark. She was the sixth of twelve children. Leona was a wonderful and devoted mother to her two sons, Peter and David, and her daughter, Donna. She also adored her son-in-law, Ted Estes, who loved her back just as much. Leona was a very giving person and was always happy to help anyone in need. Her treasured activities were playing bingo, dancing, doing puzzles and embroidery, and camping at the Stratford bog and anywhere else at New Hampshire camp sites, snowmobiling and playing cards (especially Whisk and Spades). She loved saving toys, buying candy and having a sealed envelope with a dollar bill inside for each child that came to her door on Halloween. She also loved going to her sisters’ homes to celebrate Christmas, or to play bingo anywhere and winning prizes, always with lots of love and laughter from Barbara Smith and Jeannie Sweatt. Leona’s favorite pets were her pugs named Babe I and Babe II. She also loved cats and would feed any stray that came to her door. Surviving family includes her three children, Donna (Ted) Estes of Watertown, N.Y., Peter Bunnell of Beecher Falls, and David Bunnell of W. Stewartstown; two granddaughters, Felicia Dobson and her husband, Craig, whose bear hugs she loved, and Laura Thibodeau; a grandson, Peter ‘Dub’ Bunnell and his wife, Ellen, who Leona also adored; six great-grandsons: Aiden, Conner, Ty, August, Auskar and Atticus; and five siblings, Barbara Smith, Jeannie Sweatt, Ernest “Tink” Clark, Raymond "Peanut" Clark, and Calvin Clark. Leona is predeceased by her husband, Clifton C. Scott, and six siblings: Winona Erickson, William Clark, Gloria Bresette, Marion Poulin, Richard Clark, and Ceylon Clark as an infant. There are no public services scheduled at this time. A celebration of Leona’s life will be announced at a later date. She will be interred in the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery.
